Monte Lupo QLD – Cohesion

What’s your favourite aspect of being an artist?

As a group of artist working together , we get to bounce ideas around, work through the making process then make the pieces.  The collaboration is great, bringing all the creative minds together to work on one amazing sculpture.  This is the best thing about working for Monte Lupo – creative collaboration.

Do you have a favourite material you like to work with?

We primarily work with clay.

Would you rather share an Uber with Barbara Hepworth or Cornelia Parker or Antony Gormley?

Cornelia Parker – I like things on mass and using everyday objects to create art.

If you could meet any artist (from the past or present) who would it be?

Rosalie Gasgoigne.

What are you most excited for about SWELL?

Everyone working together to create this amazing visual feast.

A world without art would be…

boring – I need art to make my eyes happy
art makes my eyes happy….

If you could pick a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) to describe your style what would it be?

Love a Pina Colada – fruity tropical, refreshing
pleasing to the eye..

Beach goer or city slicker or outback lover?

Beach – sun shine, waves and water.

Do you find making art a therapeutic or chaotic process?

It is my therapy – my happy place.

Where/how were you inspired to create your SWELL 2020 piece?

As a group we collaborate on ideas – we want something new to be created. Something we have not done before, gets a bit of excitement happening int he studio.

What do you want the public to see through your current artwork?

I want the artwork to make the viewers eyes happy, I want them to look at a thing of beauty.

Was the location of SWELL a contributing factor towards the inspiration of your piece?

Definitely – we always take the Currumbin location into account.
